You probably have been waiting for this release. Previous time you were able to create new levels, but not yet for your hero to walk into them. Well, head over to http://rpgplayground.com, because now you can add doors to go to other levels.

doorsThere are 2 kinds of doors:

  1. A real door where you always stay beneath it, and which opens with an animation sequence when walking into it.
  2. A portal that you need to walk onto.

Both of these door types also have an invisible variant.

As already mentioned in a previous blog post, the game will now be paused when going to edit mode.

Remark that in this release I changed a lot of internals of my engine, so if you see things that don’t work (anymore), or some crazy stuff happening, let me know a.s.a.p. .

Now go and create some cool levels!

This is a very impressive and extremely useful addition to the playground that will be welcomed and enjoyed by everyone. Doors/Level transitioning is an important aspect of the RPG experience and I’m glad you decided to add it now instead of later. I hope your work on RPG Playground is going well I look forward to seeing you expand it further. Keep up the good work Koonsolo!

Hi there. I can’t get the portals to work. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong? I inserted the doors/paths to my house and the level and it didn’t work. Thanks.
